November 2020 Newsletter

Dear TICO Community,

There is still so much work to be done, and TICO is just getting started. Winning elections is frankly not enough to make substantive change. We can not let the heightened engagement of election seasons dwindle while American communities are still in need of real and constant change. These communities are the backbone of our nation; the people who we should be supporting every day. TICO wants to make politics and government accountable to the people. This election has shown us just how important that constant accountability is.

RECOGNIZING OUR POLL WORKERS

This fall, TICO sat down virtually with poll workers across the country. From coast to coast, and everywhere in between, poll workers fought to maintain our democracy in this election. We are so thankful for their commitment to civic engagement and determination in the face of misinformed attacks on the electoral process. Check out the rest of our series on our Instagram (@ticoorg)!

WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO THIS FALL

This fall TICO had the honor of presenting our work at the University of Chicago’s environmental studies workshop. We discussed the integral role of civic organizing in global environmental movements and in combating climate change. We have also joined the Bonner Foundation family as a social action course development fellow. Over the course of the next six months, we will be working with social justice educators across the country and organizers from the Bonner team to develop our Principles of Civic Organizing (POCO) curriculum.
